The National Museum of Modern Art (MNAM) is dedicated to modern and contemporary art of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. It is located in Paris's Centre Georges Pompidou, where it occupies two floors (4th floor contemporary art and modern art on the 5th floor), in addition to Brancusi workshop, temporary exhibition galleries and other facilities related to the museum . The collection contains more than 100,000 works only part of which is set in rotation. The attachment is revised every two years principle. Temporary exhibitions are also organized.

The National Museum of Modern Art has taken over from the old museum of Luxembourg created in 1818 by Louis XVIII to house the works of living artists for joining the Louvre ten years after their death. In the early 1890s, the museum opens to foreign schools to set up an independent section installed in 1922 in the annex of the Tennis Court, who will also present the 1922 to 1939 more than 30 exhibitions devoted to foreign schools.
The collection reflects all the artistic movements of the 20 th century. It is also deployed outside the walls, with the antenna of the museum open May 12, 2010 at the Pompidou-Metz and the Pompidou Mobile Center, designed by Patrick Bilge, opened October 19, 2011 in Chaumont, an exhibition on "the color ".
