Built in 1542 by Jean de Chambray, Castle Poncé contains a paneled staircase richly carved coats of arms and plant and mythological motifs. The hedge maze in the sixteenth century. and flower beds bordered by clipped box adorn gardens. The decor neo-Gothic brick and stone veneer in 1830 against the hillside, overlooking a huge loft of nearly two thousand boxes of pigeonholes. Its common (1775) host the Museum of Rural Life in Sarthe.
