The regional fund for contemporary art in Britain is the first in France to open its building of "new generation". Created in 1981 on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and of the region of Brittany, he settled in 1986 on the premises of a former school in Chateaugiron Southeast of Rennes. Over the years, the enrichment of the collections (almost 4700 to date), by the documentation service and the desire to create spaces for exhibitions have led the region, the Ministry of culture and the city of Rennes to equip the FRAC of new equipment unveiled at Rennes in 2012.
The FRAC has three showrooms located in the first level of the building. Among them, the great gallery presents itself as a space white and flexible and has an area of 500 m².
