19th painter, François - Auguste Ravier (1814-1895) was the leader of the Lyon School of landscape in the 19th century. Installed in Morestel in 1867, seduced by the charm of the ponds and the beauty of its sky, he devoted himself to painting the landscapes and the transcript of the light, anticipating the research and experimentation of the Impressionists. It was in this House that he knows his "period Morestel" - which followed his "Italian" period and "Crémieu' -, which is characterized by the brilliance of color, the dissolution of the ground for the benefit of the light and more systematic use of the hatch. It is also in this House when he died, in June 1895.
