Présidial was a civil and criminal court with prison during the modern era, it was built in the sixteenth century and has been the residence of Catherine de Medici, during his stays as Countess of Lauragais. Today, the Présidial overlooking the Great Basin in the heart of the old town of Castelnaudary was converted into an archaeological museum Lauragais, offering some traveling exhibits and references to local ethnology (monetary deposit of estambigou, drinking glass twelfth ...).
