Musee de l'Hotel de Berny is dedicated to the history and art of Picardy. It was created through bequests made to the city of Amiens in 1957, Gerard de Berny, a former senator of the Somme for it to open to the public a museum about the art and history of the region.
The donation consisted of a mansion, its outbuildings, of its art collections, furniture ... Hotel de Berny was built in 1633-1634 for Treasurers of France to the generality of Picardy. It was rebuilt in the nineteenth century.
The collection contains beautiful tapestries and beautiful woodwork including those of the eighteenth century living Lafayette from the castle of La Grange-Bléneau where he died, furniture Louis XV and Louis XVI signed by Francois Foliot (the Younger), Sené father or Peter Roussel and ceramics Montières Art Nouveau and Art Deco; painting of Louis Jean François Lagrenée, Isabey and pastels by Choderlos de Laclos; timepieces or ironwork from the sixteenth to the twentieth century.
