The museum occupies part of the Jacobins Convent of the Jacobins of the town of Saint-Sever.

The museum has archaeological remains from the mound Morlanne (marble capitals of the fourth - eighth centuries), the villa of Gleyzia Augreilh (fourth century), the abbey of the Jacobins, and an exhibition of maps old postcards of Saint-Sever, slides of the Apocalypse of Saint-Sever, illuminated parchment manuscript of the eleventh century that comes from the Benedictine Abbey of Saint-Sever. Only French manuscript of this kind, it was copied to the Spanish Mozarabic Beatus of which there are still thirty copies. Preserved at the National Library of France, it has 108 Romanesque illuminations.
