The St. Croix Museum is the largest museum in the city of Poitiers. Built in 1974 on the plans of the poitevin architect Jean Monge, he instead of the ancient Abbey of Sainte-Croix, now stands at Saint-Benoît.
It is a vast structure of concrete and glass, in the Brutalist style of the 1970s. It also has the particularity to be built on a former site of excavations in his Archaeology Department.
Its collections are divided into several sectors, prehistoric, ancient and Medieval archaeology, fine arts, ethnography and history of the Poitou.
