Founded in 929, the former Benedictine priory of Saint-Rémy-la-Varenne was one of the richest in Anjou. All priory continually revised over time, contains vestiges of buildings and ornaments from the eleventh to the nineteenth century: the priory house (XII-XVI) with its stunning fireplace polychrome, the chapter room with one of the oldest Romanesque frescoes of Anjou (XII).
