Alphonse Mucha

Musée du Luxembourg | Paris
€9 - €13
Czech artist of international renown, Alphonse Mucha remains inseparable from the image of Paris 1900. His celebrity comes mainly from his elegant posters of a very strong style, emblematic of Art Nouveau.

But his activity as a poster artist too often overshadows other aspects of his production, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, decorations, objets d'art ... Through all these works, he is the figure of a a man who takes shape, mystic and visionary, animated by a true political thought, at the time of the Czech national renewal and the bursting of the Austro-Hungarian empire. All the preparatory work for the Slavic Epic which occupies it between 1911 and 1928 shows his attachment to his native country and his dream of unity among the Slav peoples.

Beyond the master of the Art Nouveau, it is therefore the abundant work and the singular personality of this artist that the exhibition intends to reveal to the visitors.

The exhibition is over since the 27/01/2019
