Un Firmament de Porcelaines, de la Chine à l’Europe

Musée Guimet | Paris
€8.5 - €11.5
The 300 porcelains from China of the 18th century that adorn the ceiling of the current French Embassy in Lisbon, a former royal residence, are made visible through 3D photography in the Rotunda of the fourth floor of the museum.

Like a celestial vault on a background of gilded and lacquered wood, these porcelains testify to the boldness of Portuguese baroque art and the intensity of maritime trade between China and Europe from the sixteenth century. The MNAAG is engaged in a scientific process where Chinese, Portuguese and French researchers contribute to make known this unique architectural testimony, - a true aesthetic shock - made possible thanks to the patronage of the Michelin Foundation.

The exhibition is over since the 10/06/2019
