Espace d'Archéologie Industrielle

Chauvigny | Technique et industrie
€3.1 - €5
Housed in a tower of the 12th century, this place offers, through an original museography, to restore the ancestral ties that unite human and material. Based on archaeological and historical heritage, as well as on the industrial tradition of the countries chauvinois, an approach to techniques and machines implemented in shaping various materials, is proposed: the exploitation of flint during prehistoric times, that of the limestone from the Neolithic to the present day, first forms of ceramics at the manufacture de porcelaine of Chauvigny, as well as the water mills, the Tuileries Gardens, farm machinery... Emphasis is placed on energy and their uses, with particular presentation of the engine steam which provided electricity to the porcelain factory.

The elevator provides access to the panoramic terrace overlooking the Vienne Valley.
