Fondation Carmignac

Hyères | Contemporary Art
€5 - €15
In the middle of an exceptional National Park, visitors will discover an exhibition that will offer a selection from the 300 works of contemporary art from the Carmignac collection and a 15-hectare garden punctuated with sculptures.

In the words of its director, Charles Carmignac: "Arrived on the island, the visitor will discover a Provencal farmhouse melted into the landscape. Inside, the volumes expand and reveal 2000 m2 of exhibition halls. Natural light, filtered by an aquatic ceiling, illuminates the spaces hidden under the surface. Outside, a garden of 15 hectares designed by the landscape architect Louis Benech is inhabited by a series of works, inspired by the place. "

The collection, exhibited and shared in the company's offices since its creation, celebrates American art from the 60s to the 80s with the iconic works of Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

The twentieth and twenty-first centuries are crossed with the incisive or more meditative visions of Gerhard Richter, Willem de Kooning, Martial Raysse, Miquel Barceló or Ed Ruscha, while the collection opens to new territories (Zhang Huan, El Anatsui. ..) and the young emerging scene (Korakrit Arunanondchai, Theaster Gates ...).

Finally, visual photography and photojournalism complete this unique panorama, a reflection of a personal story, made of encounters and moments of shared life.

Attendance at Villa Carmignac is limited to 50 people per half hour to offer a privileged contact with works accessible to the greatest number.
