At its founding in 1895, the Jewish Museum Vienna was the first of its kind in the world. Created by members of the Jewish community, he intended to devote himself to the culture and history of Jews in the dual Austro-Hungarian monarchy, but also to the conservation and presentation of Judaica.

Closed by the Nazis after the Anschluss of Austria, the museum will be refounded in 1988 under the leadership of the City of Vienna. Today, collections of exceptional Judaica, virtual tour of synagogues in Vienna before 1938 and exposure
"Unsere Stadt! Jüdisches Wien bis heute "(" Our city! The Jewish Vienna until today ") pleased us the history of the Jewish community of Vienna, which is intimately linked to the history of Vienna.

The route starts on the ground floor, with the period from 1945 to the present. It traces the journey of a difficult completely destroyed Jewish community - whereas in 1938, seven years earlier, it was still the main community of the German language and the third in Europe - up restricted presence, but very alive today.
