Built by architect Frank Gehry, the prestigious building of the Cinémathèque française houses the history of cinema on a global scale. Through its museum, its library or its projection rooms, discover the 7th art in all its aspects!

The cinema museum has large collections of objects and cinematographic devices. The scenography, magical, evolves in a setting combining wood, metal and glass showcases. A decor that plays with light, colors and overlays and that showcases fabulous collections of objects. The terrifying yet cult "death's head" of Alfred Hitchcock's film Psychose is one of them.

Discover also one of the most prestigious collections of old cinematographic devices in the world (more than 4000 devices, from 1700 to today). Like these remarkable discs of cardboard phenakistiscopes that simulate animation. If cult posters, flagship costumes and other filming documents complete the whole, the permanent exhibition does not remain static for all that! It is also animated with excerpts from cult films from the history of cinema. Signed Alfred Hitchcock, Charlie Chaplin, Fritz Lang or Luis Buñuel, they are projected sometimes on suspended slabs of projection, sometimes on the furniture.

The Cinémathèque also hosts temporary exhibitions, including many retrospectives most often dedicated to renowned filmmakers: François Truffaut, Jean Cocteau, Tim Burton ... You can also attend film screenings, indoors, or see its rich library.
