In the heart of the historic city, the home of States-General, large building from the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries, the Museum of art and history of Chinon. This one, created in 1905 by the society of friends of old Chinon, offers the visitor to the collections of works of art and objects illustrating the history of the city and his country from prehistory to the 19th century.

You can admire several works or series of remarkable objects. The archaeological collections have including one rare pageantry of the bronze Age axe, and a set of Romanesque sculptures of the collégiale Saint Mexme.
Sacred art is abundantly represented with, among others, the famous Saint-Mexme clevis (Islamic silk of the 12th century) and a wide range of medieval and Renaissance statuary.
