Founded in 1946 at the instigation of General de Gaulle and at the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Latin American House has the mission of serving, strengthening and developing relations and exchanges of any kind between France and The twenty republics of Latin America.

It occupies two distinct private mansions: the Hôtel de Varengeville, built in 1704, and the Hôtel Amelot de Gournay, built in 1712 by the architect Boffrand.
