Unique in the country, the International Museum of Naïve Art (MIAN) is dedicated to the dissemination and exploitation of this artistic genre represented by a body formed from the private collection of Lucien Finkelstein jeweler of French origin living in Rio de Janeiro.

Maintained by the Lucien Finkelstein Foundation, the MIAN, opened in 1995, now under their custody has about six thousand works of national naïve artists, two thousand foreign ones among which items that date from the fifteenth century, besides the two largest naïve canvasses on display in the world.

Part of this collection is in exhibitions of socio-educational and cultural nature, among them, those dedicated to the city. “Rio de Janeiro naïve”, for example, brings together 40 canvasses of local naïve artists in which are represented the main tourist sights of Rio.
