The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) is a modern and contemporary art museum opened in 1929 and now located in Midtown Manhattan, New York.

Inaugurated in 1929, the museum hosted more than 3 million visitors in 20101, making it the third most visited institution in the United States after the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York) and the National Gallery of Art (Washington). The institution maintains one of the most important modern and contemporary art collections in the world with that of the Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris) and Tate Modern (London).

MoMA was one of the first art museums in the world to adopt in 1940 a specific department devoted to photography, founded by Beaumont Newhall, and this has greatly contributed to the recognition of it as an art in itself and has had a great influence in the acceptance of photography by other museums around the world.

The Museum of Modern Art is a place that ignites minds, and inspiring. With extraordinary exhibition, MoMA is dedicated to the conversation between the past and the present, the established and the experimental. Its mission is to help you understand and appreciate the art of our time.
