Musée Alfred-Douët

Saint-Flour | Archéologie - Arts décoratifs - Histoire
€1.8 - €3.6
Works acquired for the most part at the Hotel Drouot in Paris in the 1930s, covering several millennia from prehistoric times to the early twentieth century, and geographically from the whole of Europe (some parts come from the same Asia).

The most represented areas are the fine arts (paintings and sculptures) and the decorative arts (tapestries, enamels, ceramics and glass) the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, in perfect harmony with the Renaissance buildings. But other sectors are present (archeology, numismatics, sigillography ...).
Rub and a flint blade collected by Alfred Douët in 1902 on the site of the shelter of the Madeleine in Tursac (Dordogne), a pyxis Champlevé Limoges enamel dating from the thirteenth century, a powder horn that belonged to Cardinal Mazarin a pair of porcelain bowls of the East India Company in the late eighteenth century, an Emmanuel Frémiet sculpture of the Grand Condé fonduevers 1882 showcases inlaid by Majorelle.
