The Alsatian Museum offers visitors a charming journey through old Strasbourg houses connected by stairs and wooden passageways. It presents thousands of objects of rural life in Alsace in the 18th and 19th centuries: costumes, furniture, ceramics, toys, religious and secular imagery, etc. Reconstructions of typical interiors of different "countries" of Alsace (agricultural plain, vineyard, Vosges mountain) and craftsmen's workshops mark the visit of this museum.

Several rooms are rather faithful replicas of rural interiors, like that of the Stùb (common room) of a farm of Wintzenheim, others more imaginary like that of the kitchen and especially the workshop of pharmacist-alchemist.

The visitor circulates among all the pieces that make up the Alsatian Museum as he would walk in a house whose inhabitants had just been absent. Crumbling floors, furniture garnishing all the rooms and all these objects, none of which is trivial, evoke a life that is both familiar and so different from today's.

To give a second wind to the collections, the Musée Alsacien still organizes numerous events and exhibitions that highlight its constant concern to link past and present, tradition and modernity.
