The museum Antoine Vivenel is a municipal museum of the city of Compiegne. This art museum and archeology was born of the generosity of a local benefactor, Antoine Vivenel, contractor and architect avid collector, particularly of works of art from classical antiquity and the Renaissance, who made his fortune in Paris during the reign of Louis-Philippe.

Housed in a beautiful mansion in the late eighteenth century, Antoine Vivenel museum houses valuable testimonies of the most brilliant civilizations of Europe and the long history of Compiègne, the favorite residence of French kings: outstanding collection of Greek vases, paintings sculptures and objets d'art from the Middle Ages to the nineteenth century
