The Archaeological Museum of Nimes is located in the former Jesuit college since 1896, there has numerous objects from excavations mainly local. The main periods represented are the Iron Age and the Roman and medieval periods.

The first museum was established in 1823 in the Maison Carree. At the end of the nineteenth century local authorities decide to install the lapidary archaeological collections in a portion of the former Jesuit College, located south of the ancient city. The new archaeological museum in Nîmes was inaugurated in 1896.
