Musée Archéologique Théo Desplans

Vaison-La-Romaine | Archéologie
€3 - €8
The first exhibit showcases the museum of prehistory. The visitor discovers the ancient Vasio, capital of Volonces. The city covered from 60 to 75 hectares. Along the river, it was protected by high dikes (late first century AD. AD). Lapidary elements reminiscent of the decorative richness of public monuments. Special emphasis is given to the imperial statues that adorned the stage wall of the theater.

Further, the Gallo-Roman religion and funeral rites are illustrated with altars and statues (Mercury, Apollo, Mother Goddess ...) and containers and furniture funeral (oil lamps, boxes of items, jewelry ... ).
The private housing, finally, is well represented in the museum with models (home of Dauphin in the first century BC. BC and the early second century AD. AD).
