Housed in the old Chateau Neuf of Bar, the building is based on a portion composed of the former Court of Auditors (1523) and the treasure room of the Charters (late fifteenth century), built by René II .

An archaeological section contains collections from the site of the ancient Nasium and barrois region, a rich set of stelae and reliefs Gallo-Roman and Merovingian beautiful ornaments necropolis Gondrecourt.

Another advantage: many remarkable and Lorraine sculptures from the late thirteenth to the seventeenth century as well as paintings of the Flemish school, Italian and French. There is also a magnificent ethnological collection from Asia, Africa, Oceania, Amazon.
