Musée Bossuet

Meaux | Art du XXe (art moderne et contemporain) - Arts décoratifs - Beaux-Arts
Bossuet museum is the Museum of Art and History of the town of Meaux. Located in the former Bishop's Palace, it bears the name of the famous orator and theologian Jacques-Benign Bossuet, bishop of Meaux 1681-1704.

The episcopal palace houses collections of paintings and sculptures, as well as items of local history. The collections have grown thanks to the legacy of the chemist and collector Henri Moissan in 1914 and, more recently, thanks to the donation of neuro-biologist Jean-Pierre Changeux, who enriched the museum forty works including the last collections came in 2006. Different schools of painting are exhibited sixteenth century to the twentieth.
