Built from 1927 to 1930 by architect Charles Letrosne at the initiative of the history of Protestantism Society, the museum stands on the site of the birthplace of John Calvin.

The theme of the museum is around the personality of the reformer, John Calvin, born July 10, 1509 in Noyon. It is also discussed the history of religious wars and the period of the "desert" in the French Protestant community.

In its collections, the museum has rare prints of the sixteenth century (Placard against the Mass of 1534 Olivétan Bible of 1535, the original edition of Chrestienne Institution 1536), prints and paintings (portraits and scenes life of John Calvin) evoke the history of Protestantism in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
