Musée Crozatier

Le Puy-en-Velay | Archéologie - Arts décoratifs - Beaux-Arts - Ethnologie - Histoire - Sciences de la nature - Technique et industrie
Located in the garden Henri-Vinay (called the "horseshoe" because of its shape) to Le Puy-en-Velay, the Crozatier museum was inaugurated in 1851. The collections made from the 1820s, were exposed previously in a disused chapel in old Town.
It is enlarged by architect Antoine Martin thanks to the generosity of the sculptor-founder Charles Crozatier. A new inauguration took place in 1868.
The richness and diversity of the museum collections (paintings, sculpture, prehistory, natural science, geology, engineering, lace, regional arts) makes a remarkable discovery in the history of Velay and Haute-Loire.
