Musée d'Art Moderne

Collioure | Modern and Contemporary Art
€2 - €3
Established in the thirties by the painter Jean Peské (1870-1949), the Museum of Modern Art in Collioure brings together collections of the early twentieth century and contemporary art. The Russian-born painter is attracted in 1902 by the beauty of the small harbor: it has the idea in 1933 to create a museum, which will take place a year later in the meeting room of the Town Hall of time. The collection then had 190 works - paintings, drawings and lithographs - offered by his artist friends, including Valtat, Espagnat and Brayer.

The museum is now located in the villa of former Senator Gaston Pams. The museum also hosts a resident artist selected by the price Collioure. The museum offers two to three exhibitions each year history of 20th century art or contemporary art.
