Musée de Guéthary

Guétary | Beaux-Arts
Museum Guéthary was created in the fifties on the ground floor of a beautiful neo-Basque house in the early 20th century, the villa Saraleguinea to welcome the gift of the sculptor Georges Clément Swiecinski. This collection includes sculptures, ceramics and many designs

The museum's collections also include original editions and objects that belonged to Paul-Jean Toulet and part of the correspondence of Bearn poet who lived in Guéthary the last years of his life.

In 1984, Roman remains were discovered on the site of the station Guéthary and subsequent excavations revealed the existence of a plant cured dating from the Early Roman Empire. The Roman museum collection in particular has a unique funeral epitaph.
