The Chartreuse museum in Douai together within its walls more than 10,000 works collected from the Revolution through donations and subsequent purchases.

Built by Jacques Abancourt in Renaissance style brick and stone on the site of the house of the "Colombier" Hotel Abancourt (1559) with its round tower was enlarged in 1608 by Jean de Montmorency who built in a square building in the same style with a square tower. Acquired in 1623 by the Norbertine Furnes, it was completed during the installation of the Carthusians in the middle of the seventeenth century by the construction of the chapter house and the small cloister (1663), the refectory (1687), the building said the Prior (1690), and finally, after the great cloister and cells that were demolished in the nineteenth century, the Jesuit chapel style not yet restored.
