Musée de la Gendarmerie Nationale

Melun | History
€5 - €7
The National Gendarmerie Museum, created in 1946, presents its heritage to the general public. Thanks to a close collaboration between the National Gendarmerie and the Melun-Val-de-Seine Agglomeration Community (CAMVS), the project to create a new museum takes shape in 2005. Thus, on nearly 1,200m ² of exhibition Permanent and 200m² temporary exhibition, the museum unveils a rich and varied collection (uniforms, hairstyles, figurines, weapons, insignia, fine arts, copperware, popular arts, photographs, documents).

The course is articulated chronologically, around a huge suspended window, piercing the building on 18 meters long and 8.5 meters high. The visitor discovers the history of the national gendarmerie, in parallel with the history of France, but also its actuality and its modernity.
