Musée de La Poterie

Betschdorf | Archéologie - Technique et industrie
€1 - €3.5
The manufacture of pottery stoneware salt is a very old tradition in the region. In the eighteenth century, potters from the Westerwald settled in Betschdorf by bringing their technical pottery salt glaze and cobalt blue color. Since then, the village Betschdorf became the capital of pottery "gray and blue."

Set in a beautiful half-timbered house, the Pottery Museum presents this craft through collections from Betschdorf but also other regions of Alsace and Rhineland. Production samples from the Middle Ages to the seventeenth century, splendid rooms decorated eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, as well as art contemporary ceramics and pottery, traces the extraordinary panorama of this activity through several centuries.
