Musée de la Tour du Moulin

Marcigny | Archéologie - Arts décoratifs - Beaux-Arts
€2 - €4.5
Tower Mill Marcigny is a museum, old water mill and the last vestige of the fifteenth century fortifications of medieval Marcigny in Saône-et-Loire in Burgundy.

The Municipal Museum, 300 sqm on 4 levels was created in 1913 in the tower of the fifteenth century, as part of the former priory ladies Holy Trinity, founded by Abbot Hugh of Cluny in the eleventh century.

Among his collections are preserved, among others, many vestiges of the priory: capitals, columns, but also pottery and majolica (XIV in the nineteenth century), the apothecary of the hospital Marcigny (XVIII century), wallpapers (XIX century) that make this museum a place where are mixed decorative arts, fine arts and archeology. The last room is none other than the frame of the mill, an architectural gem of wood.
