Presentation
The Museum of Romantic Life is located in the district of "New Athens" of the 9th arrondissement of Paris. It sits at No. 16 rue Chaptal, in hotel Scheffer-Renan, former home of painter Ary Scheffer Dutch origin and home of romantic inspiration during the early nineteenth century.

On the ground floor of the house built in 1830, the museum displays memorabilia of the novelist George Sand, who was coming to visit the next painter. The lounges will recreate its life with paintings, drawings, sculptures, furniture, jewelry and objects of vertu from his home in Nohant in Berry and bequeathed in 1928 with usufruct to the City of Paris by his granddaughter, Aurore Lauth -Sand.

Upstairs, the rooms evoke the memory of Ary Scheffer as his contemporaries - and philosopher Ernest Renan, now his nephew by marriage.
