The abbey of Saint-Guilhem-le-Desert or Gellone Abbey is a Benedictine abbey founded in 804 by a nobleman of Aquitaine William of Gellone Carolingian period (c. 742-812), known in Occitan Guilhem.
The abbey is the subject of a classification as historical monuments by the list of 1840. It is also listed as a World Heritage Site under the road to St Jacques de Compostela in France since 1998.
