The Slate Museum is a place of memory and discovery of business minor shale. It is located on the slate town of Trélazé, in the department of Maine-et-Loire.
The museum describes the history center of the extraction of slate including the history of major mining slate of Anjou basin.
The museum is divided into three areas:
- A portion reserved for demonstration sessions of cuts and cracks in the slate;
- A second portion having in showrooms, located in the former match factory, objects, tools and documents of the time;
- The third and final part offers visitors a walking tour that explores the ancient quarries shale; old fund and converted into natural areas and wild bird mining landscapes.
