The museum Denys Puech was founded in 1903 by the sculptor Denys Puech (1854-1942), the Prix de Rome in 1884, which was an official sculptors of the Third Republic. The building was built in 1910 by architect A. Boyer.

The permanent collection includes, in addition to the works of the founder, those of artists from the region, including the Orientalist painter Maurice Bompard (1857-1935) and writer Eugene Viala. Since 1987, contemporary works are also offered to the public in exhibitions in fashion. In 2005, the artist Aurèle Ricard makes six dogs in bronze painted yellow or IAY International Yellow Aurelius under a public order initiated by the museum. This series is titled "Homage to Antonin Artaud" and installed on the consoles of the facade of the museum.
