The Museum of Fine Arts in Chartres, in the department of Eure-et-Loir, is the main museum in the city. Located in the former Bishop's Palace (all XV, XVII and XVIII centuries), near the famous cathedral, which houses a collection of works of varied art: paintings, drawings, sculptures, objets d'art, archeology, furniture ...

The collection of paintings (ancient and modern painting) is the richest. We notice a Virgin Adoring the Christ Child Benvenuto Tisi for the Renaissance. For the seventeenth century we find works by David Teniers the Younger, Karel Dujardin, Francisco de Zurbaran with Saint Lucia, Claude Vignon, Dughet Gaspard and Pierre Mignard (Portrait of Molière).

The sections devoted to the eighteenth century is particularly rich, with works by Hyacinthe Rigaud, Nicolas Largilliere, François Boucher...
