Presentation
The Museum of fine arts and archaeology Joseph Déchelette is the municipal Museum of Roanne. It was founded in 1844 in Roanne by Joseph-Antoine-Fleury-Leonard Mulsant. After several relocations, it is today located in a mansion built between 1787 and 1789. It bears the name of archaeologist Joseph Déchelette, who was both a famous conservative, a great scientist, a generous donor, and the current owner. Repeatedly redesigned, the Museum presents today collections of regional archaeology, painting, ceramics of the 16th to the 20th century, African and Egyptian art.
