Musée des Cultures Taurines

The Museum of Bullfighting Cultures was opened in 2002 on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Feria de Nimes. It is housed in the former municipal credit, Alexandre Ducros street, close to the Arena and occupies two floors of the building organized around a central patio.

The museum extension Musee du Vieux Nimes and as museum labeled "Musée de France" has in fact an important and unique fund in France whose value is both scientific, historical, artistic and ethnographic. This fund shall be set up nearly 30,000 parts.

The ground floor houses the permanent collections: art, everyday objects, popular items, costumes evoke the bullfighters and bullfighting traditions as regional and international. Each presentation is accompanied by a text for the public to understand the origins of the race in Nimes, instead of the Camargue and the personalities that shaped the evolution and specificity of bullfighting.
