The county museum ancient Arles, said blue museum is a museum built in Arles in 1995, in a modern building designed by architect Henry Ciriani on the peninsula where was the old Roman circus to house the archaeological collections particularly rich town.

In the seventeenth century local authorities sensitized Arlesians preserving their heritage. In fact, they
organized in 1614 in the "common home", the first presentation of a public collection of antiquities. Following this, an order decides that the product of any archaeological discovery in the territory of the municipality shall be deposited in the collections of the city

Presented chronologically type was applied primarily to pre-and post-Roman times, the beginning and the end. Between the two themes are developed in individual spaces, thanks in particular to the variety of museum devices. The museum has also kept a copy in the initial state of the famous Venus of Arles, the original restored by Girardon is in the Louvre. This statue is the symbol of the Museum and a copy of the Louvre adorned the front extension. It is now visible in the auditorium.
