Musée Départemental de La Montagne

Le Haut-du-Them | Ethnologie
€2 - €4
In the hype of ecomuseums and outdoor museums created in the 1970s, the departmental Museum of the mountain presents a set of dwellings recreated in a park in the heart of the Vosges saônoises, Château-Lambert.

This museum bears witness to the history of the village community before the great changes that would cause the war of 1914-1918. In a former farm, are reconstructed four-room dwelling, the modest furniture and rudimentary comfort, recalling inter alia the long evenings of winter with the cast iron stove. Agricultural activities are also mentioned with the barn and granary, where different tools related to the cultivation of rye, buckwheat or potato, which constituted the basis of peasant food are arranged.
The exterior of the buildings, a hillside course offers visitors to familiarize themselves with the trades related to the forest and wood crafts. One can thus observe a lumberjack Shack, a hut of charbonnier, sabotier and a sledge, which allowed down the wood in stacked cubic metres, or even discover the work of pitsawyers.

Since 2008, the Museum presents the work related to the mine since the region has been an important site operating copper mines of lead ore and molybdenum.
