Musée Départemental Pascal Paoli

Morosaglia | Histoire
Paoli (1725-1807), General of the Nation, Father of the Nation, wrote in 1755 from one of the most important pages in the history of Corsica by giving the first modern constitution establishing the sovereignty of the people and the separation of powers principles set, thirty-two years later, as the basis of the Constitution of the United States of America.

The museum dedicated to him is located in Corsica in the village of Morosaglia (Merusaglia in Corsican), in the hamlet of Stretta. It is located in his birthplace. We find different documents and objects on his life and independent Corsica.

Right next to the museum entrance, still in his native home, you will find the tomb where his ashes were brought back to London in 1889.
