The museum preserves and presents Vieux Nîmes life from the late Middle Ages.

Housed in the old Episcopal house dating from the late seventeenth century, it is located on the Place aux Herbes, not far from the Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Castor cathedral. The building is listed as a historic monument since March 18, 1986.
It was created in 1920 by the scholar Henry Bauquier, born in Nimes.

Among the permanent collections, exhibitions recreate the world of the textile industry in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. A bathroom is the place of serge de Nîmes (denim) in the textile production nîmoise over three centuries.
