Musée les Sources d'Hercule

Deneuvre | Archéologie
€2.1 - €3.5
The sanctuary was discovered by chance (during the drilling of a well) in 1974 in a field on the outskirts of Deneuvre (lieu-dit Le Prime Silorit) by Antoine BLAISE, farmer.

The excavation will last for 12 years. As a first step, a museum was installed in the former rectory of Deneuvre (opposite the Church) and it was in 1996 that the Museum, in its current form, opens its doors.

The Museum offers a return across the sanctuary as it was towards the middle of the 4th century. All the statues and basins presented are original parts dating from the 1st to the 4th century. However the columns and roof have of be reconstructed (the originals being too damaged).
