Musée Mandet

Riom | Archéology - Decorative arts - Fine arts
€1.5 - €3
The tour begins with rooms with an interesting collection of paintings of the Flemish and Dutch schools of the seventeenth century (Ykens - Saftleven - JA Backer) and works of the French school of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries (Natoire - Raoux - Regnault). An entire floor is dedicated to the nineteenth century with a gallery of portraits of illustrious men of Auvergne, paintings of regional artists (Cornet - Berthon - Devedeux) and sculptures (Rodin - Meissonier).

The second part of the museum contains collections of decorative art objects from ancient eighteenth century. A funeral portrait of the second - third century AD, discovered in the area of the Fayum Egypt attracts the more attention that there remains little painted works of antiquity.

The medieval section, rich in statuary, including a Romanesque Virgin Auvergnate also allows to admire a fine collection of Italian and Flemish primitives.

The furnished rooms XVI, XVII and XVIII centuries are particularly interesting. For the last two periods, two areas are emphasized: the civil silverware with a significant representation of riomoise production and ceramic which has a fine collection of French faience. Finally, a room is reserved for weapons XVI to XIX century collections.
