The Municipal Museum of La Roche-sur-Yon since its reopening in 2003, it presents its collections rolling in thematic exhibitions (four to five per year). The museum is supported by the Friends of Yonnais Municipal Museum.

Established in 1847, the Municipal Museum of La Roche-sur-Yon is then presented on the first floor of City Hall. The present building was built between 1878 and 1880 by the architect Auguste Boudaud. It housed the museum on the first floor and the district court on the ground floor. The museum reproduces the original City Hall which he faces, with a central body to floor and two side wings volumes.

Apart from the various purchases that have been made since that time, the museum has received numerous gifts and bequests as well as government deposits in the nineteenth century. Having grown up around its collection of fine arts, the museum is dedicated to from the 1980s to contemporary art and more particularly to the art photography with Andy Warhol, Gursky, Sherman ... A hundred acquisitions were carried out in this direction until 1995, contributing to the recognition of the museum for its collection of contemporary photographs.
