The Citadel of Port Louis founded by the Spanish and then rebuilt during the reign of Louis XIII, owes its fame to stores in the East and ships of the route to India which it provided protection in the 17th century. Part of rooms houses the collections of the national Museum of the Marine and presents two spaces scenographies, "Treasures of Ocean" dedicated to excavations underwater and sunken ships of businesses in India, and the new space dedicated to the human rescue at sea adventure.
