The Citadel was built from 1550 by the Duke of Savoy on a project of Charles Quint. Early example of fortifications, it ensured the defence of the County. Acquired by the city in 1965, it now houses the Town Hall, museums and a Congress centre.

Volti Museum Foundation: in the heart of the Citadel of Villefranche, 100 women of bronze, copper and Terra-cotta spread their voluptuous curves in a setting of gemstones: the Volti donation has décor and a quite exceptional presentation, making it a unique artistic ensemble.
Collection Goetz-Boumeester: one hundred works, from figurative to abstract, Christine Boumeester and Henri Goetz outlined therein, as well as several works-memories of the great masters (Picasso, Picabia, Miro, Hartung) contemporaries.
Collection Roux: Three hundred historical figurines in polychrome ceramic depicting the daily life of the middle ages and the Renaissance.
